Peet Bijen: I am a steadfast player

We congratulate Peet Bijen (17) on his newly signed contract with FC Twente. At the age of eleven, Peet got scouted at amateur club BWO in Hengelo. Nowadays he is a defender for FC Twente A1 as well as the ‘Jong FC Twente’ team. At the Quan we are always curious about what drives talent to reach the top. After he signed his contract we asked him a few questions.

What did you do to get this far?

I just always try to do my best, give my all, work hard. It’s important to always be there; at the training, but also on the field in situations when I am needed. I am not a flamboyant player, but I am a solid player. I believe that being a constant factor also stands out because it can be of great importance to a team.

Your agent Henk-Maarten Chin (CIC group) calls you a solid player, is that correct?

That is correct. It’s my style to be a steadfast, solid player. I want everyone to be able to rely on me.

What are you going to do to get even further?

I think I just have to stay close to myself and give it my all. It’s all I can do really. I may not be the most talented player on the field, but I work really hard.

What does discipline mean to you?

To me it means that I am willing to give up everything for my goal and do what needs to be done. Right now I need to finish my school, that’s important.

What do you like to do when you are not playing football?

I am passionate about music. I like house music. I produce tracks and I like mixing. I am actually saving for a DJ table.

So we can soon see your DJ profile in the Entertainment section of CIC group?

Maybe, who knows haha. I think it’s great that CIC group connects sports with entertainment.
